Batt Matt

I just needed to occupy my time at work. That's pretty much the point of this. Yup.

Question…

This is a bold question, but it is something that I’ve been thinking about lately.  I have been so encouraged the past few months by Daisy Love and her family’s worship of the Lord even in the midst of tribulation.  I believe with all my heart that the Lord deserves worship even when our situations are at their worst.  All this being said, I do question whether or not the Lord will receive the “worship” from a reluctant and stubborn heart.  (This question revolves around a church worship setting by the way).

Now, before you label me a heretic or tell me that Westmont has forced bad doctrine upon me, let me explain my question.  Obviously, the Lord will except the worship from anyone that comes before Him.  He delights in this.  But when someone is singing without putting their heart into it and is just going through the motions, can we even call that worship?  Are we truly praising the King of Kings?  There have been times in my life where I have just not wanted to worship the Lord.  I would hear the worship leader say something like, “Worship is about the Lord and even if you don’t want to, you should get up and sing these last few songs.”  I agree that worship is all about God, so why would we present to Him a false sense of praise?  Would this be a sweet sent and a pleasant sight to Him?

Could a more appropriate response be to pray for our own hearts?  To pray that the Lord would remind us of His grace and kindness?

My answer:  I have no idea
